The Spring Open Science School is an intensive, seven-day training programme hosted by the University of Camerino and dedicated to researchers, professors, PhD students and research support professionals who want to turn Open Science principles into concrete practice.
Across lectures, hands-on workshops, and expert-led discussions, participants will gain the knowledge and tools needed to implement Open Access, Open Data, Open Educational Resources, and Citizen Science in research, education, and institutional settings.

Kick-Off to Open Science: Getting Ready, Getting to Know, and Setting the Scene
This session provides a strategic overview of Open Science as a driver of research quality, transparency, and societal impact. It sets the conceptual foundation for the thematic days that
follow.

Open Science: a tool for a better science
This session provides a strategic overview of Open Science as a driver of research quality, transparency, and societal impact. It sets the conceptual foundation for the thematic days that follow.
Day 3 (in presence) – April 21
Open Access in Practice: Policies, Tools, and Compliance for Researchers
The day focuses on Open Access publishing from a practical and regulatory perspective. Participants will explore institutional and funder requirements, available tools, and concrete workflows to ensure compliance.
Day 4 (in presence) – April 22
Embedding Open Research Data in Academic Research
This session addresses the technical and organisational aspects of managing and sharing research data. Topics include FAIR principles, repositories, metadata standards, and the integration of Open Data into research workflows.
Day 5 (in presence) – April 23
Open Educational Resources and Practices
This session addresses the technical and organisational aspects of managing and sharing research data. Topics include FAIR principles, repositories, metadata standards, and the integration of Open Data into research workflows.
Day 6 (in presence) – April 24
Citizen Science in Open Science: Participatory Methods, Data Co-Production and Engagement Strategies
This session explores Citizen Science as a bridge between research and society, with a focus on participatory dynamics within Open Science. Participants will examine methodological and sociological approaches to data co-production, as well as practical strategies for designing engaging and inclusive Citizen Science experiences.
Day 7 (Online) – April 27
Wrap-Up and Reflection Day: Group Discussions and Future Perspectives on Open Science
The final session is dedicated to collective reflection on the programme. Through group discussions, participants will consolidate key takeaways, share experiences, and explore future perspectives for applying Open Science practices in their own research contexts.
