COARA Action Plan

UNICAM joins CoARA: an action plan for fairer, quality-focused research assessment

The University of Camerino, long committed to promoting academic excellence and innovation, has adopted the CoARA Action Plan 2024–2027. CoARA (Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment) is a European initiative that aims to reform research assessment by placing quality and impact ahead of purely quantitative indicators.

Developed in collaboration with the Italian National Chapter of CoARA, the Action Plan marks a significant step towards cultural and structural change in assessment practices. By adopting the principles of the ARRA (Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment), UNICAM is committed to promoting assessment that is transparent, fair and respectful of the diversity of disciplines and academic careers.

Key actions include:

  • Developing guidelines for more inclusive assessment criteria.
  • Promoting Open Science practices.
  • Integrating innovative tools for research monitoring.
  • Taking an active part in European working groups to exchange views and share good practices.

UNICAM also attended the launch meeting of the Italian National Chapter of CoARA, held at CRUI (Conference of Italian University Rectors) on 19 February 2025, where the general framework and the activities promoted by the national coordination of the Italian Chapter were presented.
