A number of European Union
programmes are aimed at encouraging collaboration with non EU Universities
in the areas of higher education, post university and professional training.
These programmes are co-financed to support the realization of a variety of
objectives.
ERASMUS MUNDUS is a programme aimed at promoting the European Union as a
centre of excellence for higher education, encouraging consortiums between
universities for the awarding of joint specialized degrees and top quality
European Masters degrees.
The various ways of promoting this are;
1. Erasmus Mundus Masters degree.
2. Financial awards
3. Partnerships with Institutes of higher education in non EU countries.
4. Offering incentives
Students, researchers and professors of every nationality are readily given
the opportunity to take advantage of this programme at any E.U. member state
university.It is hoped that at the same time it will encourage the movement
of European students, researchers and professors towards non EU. countries.
The duration of the programme is five years. Necessary documentation for the
presentation of a proposal is available of the European commission site.
UNICAM, together with its university partner, intends to participate in this
project and is in the phase of confirming the allocation of degrees that
will be available, both jointly and for each individual university.
